Pros and cons of Venice Travel Guide and Map app for iPhone and iPad

Venice Travel Guide and Map app good for

Pretty good. Without it i wouldnt have found The Supermarktes for example.
My wife and I were recently in Venice and brought our ipad and iphone. I had a number of Venice apps installed including the Ulmon Venice app. Venice is a maze. It is very easy to get turned around and lost. Paper maps are ok but this app was just wonderful in that it can pinpoint where you are on the map. Try that with a paper map. I kept the ipad (2) in my pack sack and left the app running. When we were a little lost, Id pull it out and it had our location, even the direction we were pointing! In the narrow canyons of streets in Venice, many only a few feet wide, this was really surprising and very welcome. Using this app we didnt have to follow the marked paths to tourist sites that were crowded with, wait for it, tourists. We took any path that looked interesting, and less crowded to get to our destination. Also the fact that it works offline is really great. I had the app on my iphone (4) as well but it couldnt find our location in offline mode. This could be an operator error though. The only feature I would like to have had in the app would be a suggested path to your destination function. Already downloaded the Paris app for our upcoming trip.
This app cabin be a real asset. It is worth a download if you are or will be headed to the city. It provides you with information that could make your visit just that much more pleasant.
For our recent Europe trip I used this app for all the cities I could! It was by far more user friendly and accurate to use than the other apps. Ulmon did not have a map for Florence and I missed the app!! Truly awesome app!!
No data and gps works great. Only missing street numbers and navigation. Great work.
Indispensable App For Navigating the Great Cities of the world. I used it for London, Venice and Rome. Highly recommended.

Some bad moments

Not enough detail, many important sites missing, all the info is pulled from Wikipedia.
All the content is pulled for wikipedia. Not what I expected for a paid app. Better off downloading the guidepal guides. They are free and have at last as good content.
I bought Rome2go and loved it. I thought Venice2go would be as good....it is not. Look closely at the screenshots of a blank map with blank red dotted lines. Thats what you are paying .99 for. Get your kids crayons...draw some dotted lines on a page and give the kid the .99. Youll be better off than I am for paying .99 for this useless app.
Having just come back from Venice and tried to use this app, I can tell you it is useless. Very few lanes, walkways, or even canals are actually labelled. I had hoped to rely exclusively on this app to find my way around, but I am so glad I bought a real, paper map before I went. I would have been in trouble if this app was all I had. Do not waste your money.
This app seems quite comprehensive. Has travel wiki info plus an interactive map as well as a directory of hotels, restaurants architecture etc. It could be easily improved, and i am just figuring the app out, by having a overlay on the map of each of the different types of places of interest. Its all there but it does take some figuring. A couple of other issues. The listing of sites in various categories seems random. Not alphabetical, not by geography. Simple a long list of names. Needs better organization. Hopefully will be updated at some point. A guide book with organization seems a better bet for now.
Full of ads. Always trying to link you to another site. Just trying to get you to buy! buy! buy!. Not worth it.
